Welcome To Lyme Bytes!
April, 2014- HELLO ALL! I am no longer posting to this blog. For the latest on me and my work, I invite you to subscribe to my NEW blog: www.conniestrasheim.blogspot.com where I share my latest findings on how to heal from chronic illness involving Lyme and other conditions. Thanks!
Greetings and welcome to my Lyme disease blog, a comfy cozy (and sometimes crazy!) place for cutting-edge information, encouragement and insight into the fastest-growing epidemic disease in the United States. In this blog you will find everything from bug-killing strategies to immune system and hormone help, as well as lifestyle and spiritual suggestions for healing from chronic illness involving Lyme disease. The information contained within this blog is based upon my own healing journey and what I have learned over the past eight years as I have been diligently digging and researching my way back to a better state of health. May you find it to be a source of hope, inspiration and wisdom in your own journey towards wellness.

Pursuing A New Path To Healing
I am shifting in a new direction with my healing this year. I will be focusing more upon God and spirituality as my primary source of healing. If you have read my last two posts, then you know that I have been receiving guidance from a number of sources to pursue this path, and that I believe that God can, and does, heal supernaturally.
That said, I will, for the time being, continue to do treatments to further my well-being. I prayed long and hard about this decision, because I have been tempted to completely halt the remedies for awhile, especially given the revelations that I have received over the past couple of months. In the end, though, I have decided to continue with treatments, at least for now.
While no protocol seems to completely eradicate Lyme disease, treatments enable many people to get their lives back and I have improved greatly by doing them. But because I believe that they don't completely heal most people, and because of my revelations, my focus and hope will be upon finding healing within the spiritual realm. So while I will be continuing with treatments, I won't be sinking my hope into them, and neither will I be dedicating massive amounts of mental energy to fretting over the results that I get from them. My hope is that they would become a grain of salt in my overall healing process.
Up until now, the natural remedies that God has provided have healed me significantly, but, like all Lyme treatments, none has been a magic bullet. I used the Bionic 880 device, in conjunction with homeopathic nosodes, as my main protocol for treating infections this year, and it effectively eradicated all active forms of Borrelia burgdorferi in my body. As of yet, however, it has not eradicated all cystic forms of the organism, and neither has it been completely effective for treating Babesia. Because Babesia doesn't exist in Europe, I surmise that effective nosodes for this infection must yet be developed for use in conjunction with the Bionic 880, as the ones that I have acquired in the United States have so far been insufficient for treating it.
So for the first time in four and a half years, I am turning to antibiotics, to use in conjunction with the machine. I took antibiotics for a couple of months immediately following my diagnosis in 2005, but because my doctor prescribed three drugs simultaneously and I was quite sick at the time, my body couldn't handle the massive Herxheimer reaction that they caused. I have always resisted returning to antibiotics for healing, because I believe that they weaken the immune system, and are not a permanent solution to the problem of Lyme. But because they have the longest track record for effectiveness, and some people have been healed greatly by them, I have decided to give them a try once more.
My Lyme doctor in Denver muscle tested me and confirmed that I have multiple strains of Babesia, which is consistent with the results that I got when I tested myself with my biotensor earlier this year. He prescribed me Noni and Cumanda (from Nutramedix), along with Mepron. Because the doctor uses muscle testing to discern the specific remedies that my body will respond to, I feel confident in taking these for Babesia. Artemisia tested as being an ineffective remedy, which concurs with my experience with this herb. I feel privileged to have a doctor who can muscle test me for specific remedies, because that way, I can avoid those that are ineffective and/or harmful. Because not everybody responds well to the same, run-of-the-mill remedies.
In addition, I will be taking zithromax and ceftin for Bartonella, and in time, flagyl for the cystic forms of Borrelia.
My detoxification protocol includes homeopathic drainage remedies for the liver, kidneys and lymphatic system; glutathione suppositories, chlorella, folate (to correct for a genetic pathway defect in my liver), as well as walking, saunas and coffee enemas. I also take turmeric during treatments to reduce inflammation.
Other supplements in my arsenal include B-vitamins, Vitamin D3, magnesium, zinc, T3 hormone, progesterone, Vitamin C, Rechts-Regulat (to thin the blood and break down biofilm), probiotics, and sometimes, licorice for my adrenals.
Heavy metals remain a problem for me, but so far, my body is testing negative to every chelator except chlorella. In time, I hope to start Dr. Klinghardt's KPU protocol for this problem, since heavy metals heavily compromise the immune system (see Scott Forsgren's website for more information on the KPU protocol: http://www.betterhealthguy.com).
While I don't believe that antibiotics will cure me, it is my hope that my god will use them as part of my healing process, and in the meantime, show me a better path within the spiritual realm.
May God bless you in 2010, and bring you the discernment, wisdom and encouragement that you need for your own healing journey!

This is the first time I am commenting. I am so glad that I found your blog. The name I have is actually from another blog and is a long story why I chose it . . . not relevant here.
I must say that I have found reading your blogs to be as if you were reading my own mail, yet I don't have Lyme disease. However, the last 4 years of my life have been taken up with fighting a whole myriad of things: mercury toxicity, candidiasis, parisites, EBV, cytomegalovirus, etc. etc. etc. with no hope that it might ever change.
I know that our God is a God of healing. I have had many dramatic healings in my life. So when this took me down and there was no dramatic healing, I was stunned and flabbergasted and then have gone through every emotion possible in the past several years. What I do know is that something like this does cause one to have to burrow in deeper with God in the midst of the agony. There are times that I wouldn't trade for the world the pure gold that has been forged on the inside of me by God through all of this. But, of course, I like you, believe that God wants us well. I am slowly climbing out of the pit physically. There have been some healings along the way where the hand of God was evident and I got little miracles, but I have had to go the long route as well with Him intervening at times and me having to stay the course with my remedies all the while - which consumed most of my time and energy and pocketbook! BUT He is faithful. And I know that I will not remain this way forever, just as I believe that you won't. I look forward to hearing more of what you will have to say about what God is showing you and perhaps I will share more of what He has done with me in and through this and what He is continuing to do. We have an amazing God even though we don't always understand things - especially having to live in a fallen world where there is sin, sickness and disease. I hate the devil . . . But - and this is a big BUT! God has overcome the devil and we have access to an all-powerful and wonderful God in the midst of the tragedies of our lives.
God bless you, and thank you for this blog and all that you've done to help those with Lyme disease and even those who don't have it (like me) who are suffering with similar situations.
Hello NNL! :)
Thank you for your kind comments. I am so glad that my blog "resonates" with you!
How wonderful that you have witnessed God's miraculous hand upon you time and time again! I can imagine how confounding it must be at times, to wonder why sometimes He heals right away, and at other times, He delays.
Yet, as you, I believe that ultimately He wants us to be well!
He is showing me many things these days which I will share at some point, either here or in a new book!
Thank you for sharing your journey, please continue to share with me and others what God does in your life. It is interesting to read of your healing journey!
Blessings,
Connie
Connie, I am so encouraged by your recent blog posts. I am being led in the same direction by the Lord concerning my Lyme symptoms and it is such a sweet confirmation to my heart to hear you say that He doesn't want us sick!!! That is so true! God is so good!
Recently, I have felt a new, unquenchable, rising hope that the Lord is making a way where there was no way. I believe that the hard ground that has been unbreakable for so long is breaking open and life giving springs of water are bursting forth. Nothing can stop what the Lord is doing and we can't even begin to imagine what He has in store for us this new year and beyond. He is doing a new thing. It is a time for the miraculous like never before!
Be blessed, I am so excited about what the Lord is doing and I look forward to staying in touch with what He continues to do in and through you. Learning about what God is showing you is so encouraging and gives me so much hope, thank-you for sharing.

Hi Connie
I too believe God wants the best for us and uses our struggles to bring us closer to Him ~ giving glory to God!
I too have come to the conclusion that Lyme will never be completely gone from my body. I will settle for getting alot better and having the upper hand on this smart bacteria. I am on Zith, Mepron, and now Cumanda too. I have claimed this year as a year of healing for myself and my husband Joel too. I ended 2009 with a endometrial biopsy and pelvic ultrasound that show no cancer but a thickening of the uterus...the meds I am on have suppressed my estrogen from being distributed I guess...will know more later. So hormone treatment will be the first step towards healing in 2010~Leaning on God for each step is at the top of my list. Letting go of fear, living in the moment, and above all trusting God for His plan for my life.
I always am encouraged by your writings. I look forward to hearing how your new protocol works for you. The muscle testing is a great tool, isn't it.
God bless you Connie..and happy healing for 2010!
I just read the song of songs in the bible.. Mystics love this section and it can cheer us all up!
I am not convinced by muscle testing but best wishes nonetheless

I mentioned your book favourably on on this discussion on lyme disease
Hi Connie. Hope you're still out there. Haven't seen anything from you in a long time, and was wondering how your abx treatments were going. I especially want your personal opinion on Flagyl, as I'm sure you've "graduated" to that by now. I'm finishing up my
6th 2-week pulse and have one more to go before being reevaluated. Have you seen improvement? I think I have. The question is, how do you know when to stop? My LLMD wants me "symptom-free", but I don't think that will ever happen (permanent damage). But I could go on at this level forever and be fine. Part of me wants to settle so badly, but I would have a hard time going against my doctor's advice, and stop meds on my own. Where are you at this point? Have you been writing like mad and haven't had time to post. I wonder, and hope! Rebecca
Hi Connie!
I loved your book (Insights into Lyme Disease Treatment). My naturopath is in it! I'm not sure if you still read comments on old posts but I'll take a whack at it :-)
I've been recently diagnosed with Lyme, Bartonella and Babesia. I have a best friend who is very much into muscle testing and bio-energetics but to be honest, that is all a little out there for me but I am very intrigued by your account of your doctor in Denver who muscle tests you. I really just don't understand how it could possibly work. Can you explain?
Right now I am starting with herbs and moving into antibiotics. Doxycyline, Rifampin, and then Tinidizole and possibly Mepron (most likely at some point).
I think I have read that you are better now but still have left-over issues from the Lyme. Have you ever read Natalie Nichol's website (Shades of Grace)? It is amazing. Before I knew I had Lyme, I was going to go do the live cell therapy she speaks of but now will do antibiotics first and then live cell if I need it after I am done doing antibiotics. She was on immuno-suppressents for years that damaged her system but has made great recovery with live cell.
Anyways, I am a fellow believer as well (my husband and I were youth and senior pastors for a time but now I stay at home and rest and take care of my four beautiful children and he is in business).
All the best!
Anne
Hi Anne,
Thanks for your kind words!
In brief, muscle testing is based on the premise that the body knows what it needs, and that via muscle responses can communicate that information. It is based on physiology, not any bizarre spiritual practice, but you must have someone who is good at it, as it's easy to make mistakes. My doctor is pretty accurate, I think. His website is: www.soundclinic.com. Yes, I am doing much better, my Lyme infections are in remission (they went into remission the day before I published a book on supernatural healing: www.healingchronicillness.org. A miracle? I think so! God is still healing me in other areas, though I am much better.
Praying God's healing blessings upon you from Lyme! He is our great physician and I believe will guide you into all truth.
Blessings, Connie
