And Speaking Of Emotional Trauma...

My right leg hurts. For the past month I have been suffering from a tension, like a cord being pulled taut, from the base of my sacrum all the way down to my calf. My knee and the muscles in my leg also ache.

This isn't a Lyme disease thing; I've never had a problem with my legs, not since the start of my descent into Lyme hell four years ago, anyway.

Neither is the pain the result of an injury. Unless something shifted in my body when my feelers were down and caused this lovely guitar-string-like phenomenon, physical injury hasn't been the reason for it, either.

Speaking of strings, I don't need you to whip out your violins for me (But thanks for your sympathy!). I'm surviving and still walking, despite the vehement protests of my leg, and...my subconscious.

Yes, my subconscious. You see, I think this thing is the result of emotional trauma. If, after all of my ramblings on the subject, you still don't believe that emotional trauma can cause physical symptoms, then let me just delve a little more into the story of my leg!

In my book, "The Lyme Disease Survival Guide: Physical, Lifestyle and Emotional Strategies for Healing," I describe how Lyme disease and emotional trauma (because the two often go hand-in-hand), can be healed with Quantum Techniques, a strategy in energy medicine that discerns and heals subconscious, and unconscious, emotional trauma as it heals infections.

Last month, I telephoned my QT practitioner to get some hormone help. What I ended up with, after my over-the-phone session with her, was a new symptom. This glorious hip-to-calf pain in my right leg.

Subsequently, I learned that it had surfaced as a result of the initial session to get my hormones straightened out. In Quantum Techniques, this can happen, as old traumas surface when other problems are healed. And emotional traumas often clamor to be heard through physical symptoms, which are then corrected by QT strategies.

While I was dismayed to learn that this remarkable therapy could cause entirely new symptoms to occur (be aware of this possibility if you try Quantum Techniques),
I was also fascinated when my practitioner told me that some subconscious part of me was literally trying to keep me from "moving forward", in a certain area of my life, due to a fear I have in this area. The fear was actually triggered by a recent experience and it manifest in the form of a symptom during my QT session.

My practitioner tried to release this symptom through the use of energetic codes and other QT strategies. Sometimes, the codes are effective for healing trauma, but not always. So far, my body has been resisting treatment for this fear issue, perhaps because it has deep roots in my subconscious mind, and dismantling it will take some time. What I don't doubt, however, is that the pain is a direct result of the fear (which was caused by trauma in my early life). The links between cause and effect are just too obvious to me.

I'm not despairing, though. I believe that all things happen for a reason, and if I have been allowed to gimp along for a month, then it's because I need to pay attention to this fear and heal it, however God may lead me to do that.

Don't discount the power of the body to communicate with you through symptoms. While healing chronic Lyme disease is a straightforward matter for many, more about infections than emotional trauma or a disconnect in the spirit, for others, it is only one piece of the pie that is chronic illness. The others are about brokenness of spirit; of lies we've learned to believe and traumas that have never been healed.

Hi Connie,
I am so glad you wrote about emotions and chronic illness. I firmly believe that emotionally trauma is what is causing us to be chronically ill. I haven't been able to conquer this part of me, it's one of the few things I haven't tried in this healing journey. Do you have any information on QT practitioners - who, where? Also, can this treatment be done over the phone?

Hi Michelle,

Yes, it can be difficult to heal emotional stuff, I think. (Then again I also believe that with God, anything is possible!)
My QT practitioner is Carryn Fletcher, and she's wonderful. Her info. can be found at: www.quantumtechniques.com.

Yes, you can do the treatment over the phone. QT is great at bringing up issues of trauma and for showing you the areas in which you need healing (both physical and emotional), but it is quite expensive (you'll spend about $150-200 per session) and you must strictly avoid toxins (in food, etc) or else it won't work. In that regard it requires tremendous discipline. Personally, it has not healed me as much as I would have liked, (I did it twice monthly for about eight months) but I did notice some positive change and I am more acutely aware of the issues in my body that I need to heal. It also helped to eradicate my Lyme but how much exactly I will find out in December when I go for testing.
What I really like about it, though, is that it can discern just about any and every problem in your body.
You can do one session with a money back guarantee, too.
Hope this helps! :)

Connie

P.S. Oh yeah, and if you decide to do it, I would advise reading all the free material on their site first. This will save you time and money

Connie,
How is QT different from IRT? Didn't you mention IRT in your book? (or am I reading WAAAYYYY to many lyme books/blogs/articles and confused. :-) )
Thanks,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,

I discuss both QT and IRT in my book (Yes they are two separate strategies!). As well, if you do a search on my blog, I have described each one in previous posts.

Both are strategies that you can do over the phone and which involve energy medicine and codes; however, they are quite different in how they accomplish healing in the body.

Hi Connie
I went to the quantumtechniques site and watched the sample video to remove an event in one's life that is causing stress. Once you hear the codes or say the codes, what happens to the event? Are you able to remember it at all? Maybe it's my imagination, but after I finished watching the video, when I focused my thoughts on the stressful event, I found myself unable to actually focus on it and it was as if I was viewing it as it happened to someone else other than me ( like I was watching a movie) . I am interested to know what happens to whatever you are releasing emotionally . Where does it go? Or, am I trying to get more information than I actually need. I know WHAT the emotional traumas in my life are that are preventing me from healing -- but struggle to release them ! Can QT be done without a QT Practitioner?
I am happy that Lisa asked the difference between QT and IRT. I, too, had the same question. I thought of trying IRT a few months ago, but my intuition told me NO.

Michelle:

I would suggest you seek out a Cranial Sacral Therapist who is also trained in Somatic Experiencing. Check out the Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Assoc. of North America for a referral in your area. This therapy has helped me to finally get off of antibiotics and unblock some braced trauma. Hope this helps.

Hi Michelle,

QT is a bit complicated to explain. In general terms, once the traumas are identified, cognitive affirmations and codes help release them. The codes alter the body's energy in a manner that I don't entirely understand but chakras are involved); there is no need to go deep into the issues-they simply need to be identified and any "dark spiritual energy" that blocks the body from releasing them is also dealt with, so that the codes can then work to heal the body.

Yes, there are aspects of QT you can learn to do yourself but I found it difficult, personally. If you are good at muscle testing, however, and have good intuition, you might be able to do it.

Hi Michelle,

I don't think that I fully answered your question in the last post, so here I go again...

I don't know where the traumas "go"; all I can tell you is that they are held in the body's tissues and organs, and doing sessions releases them, just as homeopathy and other energy medicine modalities release infections. Trauma in QT is often multi-layered, however, and so what seems like one issue can actually have lots of layers which take time to heal.
Yes, I think there is some feeling of disassociation from the trauma once it is released--but you don't really forget it.

Hope this helps!

Hi Connie
Thanks for the detailed explanation about QT. I actually use muscle testing ( O-Ring) in my everyday life. I learned it through a Ellen Cutler's book which I cannot remember the name of ..; ugghh.. anyway, also I think and have been told I have excellent intuition. I think my Reiki I & II level training helped this. Do you know where I can get more info on doing QT at home.Anonymous mentioned somatic experiencing..ever tried that?
