In this blog you will find everything from bug-killing strategies to immune system and hormone help, as well as lifestyle and spiritual suggestions for healing from chronic illness involving Lyme disease. The information contained within this blog is based upon my own healing journey and what I have learned over the past eight years as I have been diligently digging and researching my way back to a better state of health. May you find it to be a source of hope, inspiration and wisdom in your own journey towards wellness.

*Dr. Nicola McFadzean, ND, has recently published a new book called The Lyme Diet. This easy-to-read little book contains valuable dietary suggestions for those with Lyme disease. Dr. Nicola recommends foods based on whether they meet the criteria of being anti-inflammatory and supportive to the immune, endocrine, digestive and other systems. She also recommends foods that are alkaline and which support detoxification. At the end of the book are fun, creative suggestions for meals.

As a Lyme disease sufferer, it's easy to feel as though you are always eating the same, boring foods, so it's nice to read a book like Dr. Nicola's, which brings fresh meal ideas to the table!

A final section in her book offers information on lab work, home treatments, and vitamin and mineral supplement suggestions. I highly recommend this book for those who are looking to improve their diets or who need new ideas about what to eat. Consuming the right foods is vitally important for recovery from Lyme disease. As Dr. Nicola states in her book, "food is medicine." Indeed, food is at least as important as the medications we take for Lyme, if not more so!

*Many people with Lyme disease are discovering heavy metals to be a significant contributing factor to their overall toxic burden and symptoms. Heavy metal protocols can be laborious, long and sometimes ineffective. Fortunately, Dr. Klinghardt has come up with an extremely effective, (if not physically challenging), protocol for removing these from the body. This protocol, called KPU, involves taking megadoses of certain minerals, which function to displace metals from the body and remedy ineffective cellular processes that have gone awry due to mineral deficiencies. Minerals use the same receptor sites on cells as heavy metals, so replacing minerals in the body can displace these metals. As metals get displaced and the body begins to receive more of what it needs to function effectively, immune function dramatically improves. As a result, the body can better fight Lyme and co-infections. For more information on this protocol, visit: http://www.neuraltherapy.com/KPUprotocol.pdf.

*For those interested in learning more about Lyme disease and its link to autism, the LIA Foundation (Lyme-Induced Autism) will be holding a conference in Indian Wells, CA, from April 15-18th, entitled, "Roadblocks to Recovery." Those unable to attend can purchase the conference proceedings (which are like condensed notes) at the LIA site: www.lymeinducedautism.com. I attended LIA in 2007 and found it to be extremely worthwhile, not only for those desiring to learn more about the connection between Lyme and autism, but also for learning about Lyme in general.

*I will be providing general information on Lyme disease, treatments and my new book through several radio interviews over the next couple of months.
Following is my speaking schedule for those interested in listening to these interviews.

Monday, April 12th, 10 AM EST. Visit: www.radioliberty.com for more information.
Thursday, May 20th, 9:45 AM, EST. Visit: www.itsyourhealthradio.org for more info.
Friday, May 21st, 11 AM, EST. Visit: www.voiceamerica.com for more information.

Stay tuned for updates on additional radio programs!

*Because I am a strong believer in the power of prayer to heal, I have been considering putting together a bi-weekly or monthly conference call for anyone with Lyme disease who desires prayer. Participants would mail in their prayer needs, which would be read during the conference call. Prayer is especially effective when a group of people get together to pray for one another (there is power in numbers!) which is one reason why I am considering doing this. If you are interested, please let me know, as such information will help me to determine whether or not establishing a bi-monthly or monthly call session would be worthwhile.
