However, sunlight can be beneficial for Lyme sufferers. I for one, feel stellar after a short time outside. My mood improves, I sleep better, and I tend to have more energy after catching a few UV rays.
And it isn't just me. Studies have shown that sunlight, when taken in small doses of just ten to twenty minutes a day, it can be powerfully healing.
First, short doses of sunlight aid the immune system by increasing white blood cell and antibody levels, and by stimulating neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) to engulf bacteria more rapidly.
Next, it speeds the rate at which toxic chemicals, including metals, are eliminated from the body. Given that many Lyme sufferers have impaired detoxification capabilities, and are loaded with toxins, this is great news.
The Vitamin D produced from sunlight also strengthens muscles and bones, and rays stimulate the pineal gland to produce melatonin, which is converted into serotonin by day. This has profound positive implications for the depresssed, insomniac Lymie, as the aforementioned hormones work to correct mood and sleep problems.
Also, cholesterol and triglyceride levels are lowered, as are blood pressure and blood sugar, which may be helpful to some.
Finally, it makes trace minerals more accessible to the body, and minerals are important for a multitude of biochemical reactions.
So, like everything else in life, take a bit of this good thing in moderation. Doing so could have positive effects on your health.
